Since I am still dipped in glitter, let me take up the review of another Stila Glitter and Glow Liquid Eyeshadow for you. This one is called “Smoldering Satin.” I am quite enjoying all things glitter nowadays. I’m still not inclined to use loose glitter or things in the pan, but these Stila ones – they are giving me life!! So, let’s find out how this once performed.

Packaging:
The liquid eyeshadow comes packaged in a lip gloss type of packaging except for the fact that the tube is cuboid instead of cylindrical. It has a doe-foot type of applicator which allows easy dispensing and application of the product. The good thing is that tube has a silicon stopper at its neck which ensures that too much product does not get dispensed out at one go which really helps. Also, it would prevent the product coming in contact with air too much. The applicator works well for applying the eyeshadow on the lid. However, if you need to use the eyeshadow as a liquid liner – you will need to use a fine tip brush form your collection. The product comes packed in a golden cardboard box. Overall, the packaging is functional and aesthetically appealing.

My Experience with Stila Glitter and Glow Liquid Eye Shadow Smoldering Satin:

Shade: “Smoldering Satin” is described by the brand as a deep tan and silver shade. It is a medium, bright, metallic, muted-bronze shade with silver micro-glitter particles. When you initially apply, it looks more cool toned because of the prominent silver micro glitter. However, as it dries, the base colour deepens to a warm muted bronze shade, which balances the tone and makes it seem not too cool or too warm. The base shade in this one is more distinct than the one I reviewed earlier today, “Kitten Karma” (which may be due to the depth of shade itself or due to the consistency of the product, which I will discuss in a minute). Since the base shade is prominent, the product can be used as a eyeshadow with the edges blended out or it can be used as a top coat. It can also be used as an eyeliner, but smooth even application is a slight struggle due to the particles of micro-glitter in it.

Texture: The product is ever so slightly thicker than the ones I reviewed earlier with an almost creamy consistency. However, the product was still smooth, easy to spread, easy to apply and did not flake on drying (which was a point of concern for me seeing that the consistency was more creamier). The shadow applies uniformly and the micro-glitter particles are spread evenly and are densely packed. The base shades applies smoothly without going patchy or uneven. It’s quite a good texture. It takes less than a minute to dry down. This gives you ample play-time to blend the edges softly with your fingers or with a synthetic brush. Despite the high shine, it did not seem to accentuate texture on my lid. I found it fairly easy to work with. The best part is that since the glitter is suspended in a homogenous creamy base, it did not seem to have much fall out during the course of wear, which is excellent for a glitter product. I did not seem to have any issue with applying it as an all over shadow or as a top coat. However, while applying it as a eyeliner, I felt that the formula does not go on as smooth as I would have liked it to go.

Pigmentation: Pigmentation is pretty good. You can see the swatch – the base colour is distinct and goes on smoothly. It isn’t a scenario where glitter is suspended in a transparent/uneven base. The shadow can be used in its full glory or sheered out – as one desires.

Staying Power: I apply eye shadows with a primer because my lids are way too oily. I get about 9-10 hours of wear with barely any fall out. This is phenomenal for a glitter product.

• Can be used as a liner, eyeshadow or topper.

Cons of Stila Glitter and Glow Liquid Eye Shadow Smoldering Satin:

• I wish it was waterproof, however, the brand has made no such claims about the eyeshadow either.
