My Experience with Mentholatum Sugar Lip Vintage Pink:

Let’s begin the review with the packaging of the product. The product comes in a regular cardboard packaging with the name and other product details printed at the back. The lip balm tube is cylindrical and glossy black in color. The brand’s tagline is printed on it side in simple and small fonts. The cap of the tube shuts very securely making an audible click sound and that makes it purse friendly. The size of the lip balm tube is apt for carrying in the pocket. The shape of the lip balm bullet is slightly slanted which provides easier application. Overall, the packaging is good, but it is not color coded and does not bear any sticker, so it is hard to in your stash if you have more than one of these lip balms. I have to check the sticker at the bottom, which bears the range name along with just the shade number because the packaging of these Mentholatum Sugar-Lip By Water Color Lip balms and Lipice Water Color Lip Balms are exactly same.

This lip balm comes in four shades. This new range called “Sugar Lip” has the shade name same as the previous Watercolor lip balms but the shades and formulation is different. The same names are quite confusing. This variant called “Vintage Pink” is a dusty pink kind of a color. It is not really noticeable on my lips because it mixes with the natural color of my lips. If you are looking for highly pigmented lip balms, then this one surely will not match the description. It is just average in pigmentation and looks very natural on the lips.

The color is very subtle, so good for those who like natural-looking lip balms. I really have to layer it on to get rich color on the lips. It has a soft glossy sheen in it, which gives a healthy appearance to the lips. The color is quite pale and not suitable for deeper complexions. It is apt only for fair to medium skin tones. The lip balm has a very mild sweet fragrance, which is not too strong and can be sniffed very close to the nose. The lip balm has a light sweet taste in it but it is not really annoying.

The texture of the lip balm is great. It is very super smooth and creamy. It glides on the lips like a dream. The formula is non sticky and feels comfortable on the lips. I would not say that the formulation is lightweight. It has a thick texture, but does not feel heavy. It is very nourishing. It softens dry and chapped lips and smoothens them. It helps to eliminate flaky skin. It is very moisturizing and hydrating. My lips stay hydrated for pretty long after applying this lip balm. It helps to heal dry and cracked lips with the very first usage. And, regular usage of this lip balm has improved the condition of my dry lips.

The lasting power of the lip balm is somewhere around 2-3 hours on my lips but the hydration it provides lasts much longer hence it does not require frequent reapplications. Overall, it completely fulfils all expectations that I have from a lip balm but I am not a fan of this shade.
