My Experience with L’Oreal Hydra Fresh Anti-Ox Grape Seed Hydrating Mask-In Double Essence:

Packaging:
L’Oreal hydrafresh anti-ox grape seed hydrating mask-in double essence comes in a medium sized magenta and white colored bottle with pump dispenser. There are two different compartments which stores French grape seeds and red fruit complex separately. Further, red fruit complex is made from red pomegranate and red berry. The compartments are visible only in side view, and not in front view. Each compartment has its own nozzles that are combined to make it look one. But, when you see it there are two tiny separate holes. When the pump is pressed, the products come out unmixed. There is no information provided over the bottle. The bottle has outer magenta coloured cardboard packaging which houses all the information regarding the product. Unlike the eye gel from same range which I reviewed a couple of days back, the essence packaging has all the ingredients mentioned.

Texture:
This double essence is result of putting two ingredients, French grape seeds and red fruit complex separately but together. The ingredients are kept in different compartments and are poles apart in appearance. While the ingredient, red fruit complex, in transparent compartment is gel-like, the other ingredient, French grape seeds, in white compartment is cream-like. The gel is pinkish red in appearance while the cream is pearly white. Both, gel and cream have medium consistency and smooth texture.

Fragrance:
It has mild and pleasant fragrance which is fruity and kind of soothing. However, the fragrance dissipates after the essence sinks into the skin.

Usage/Result:
When coming to the usage, I take 2-3 pumps and mix them on my palms. After mixing, I apply on the face and neck and massage for a few seconds. After massaging for a few seconds, there is a sheen left over the skin. It takes a few minutes to get completely absorbed into the skin, and after that there is no sheen on the skin. The formula of the essence is lightweight and does not feel heavy on the skin. I am using it twice a day after applying toner.

After getting absorbed into the skin, the essence makes it hydrated and nourished. It neither provides matte or dewy finish, but leaves skin velvety soft. The skin does not feel greasy or heavy and there is no sheen as well. The essence just sinks into the skin without leaving any trace behind. It makes the skin softer, smoother and bouncy instantly. And, I like how bouncy my skin is after applying this essence. It makes super easy for BB cream and foundation to glide over the skin. This essence never irritated my skin nor lead to any breakouts.

When coming to the claim of replacing serum and moisturizer, it is true to an extent. In the morning, I just apply toner, this essence and top it with my favourite sunscreen from Lotus, and never felt any need of applying anything else hydrating. But, in this dry season, sometimes I had to follow up with a light moisturiser in the night. Earlier, I was using Olay white radiance brightening night essence moisturizer and it was providing adequate hydration to my skin. In night, I like to have my skin extremely hydrated because, hydrated skin looks super plump. However, when I layer up the toner, I don’t need anything else than this essence. This means, if you are using a heavy moisturizing night cream already, this essence will not be able to replace it and serum. But, it will suit every skin type and will replace the serum and moisturizer in summers without any doubt.

It does not brighten up the skin instantly, but has made it vibrant with regular usage. It worked more in making the skin soft, smooth and radiant; I wish it had done something for reducing spots as well. With the regular usage, the essence has improved the skin’s complexion but had done minimal to zero for dark spots.
