I have never been into the Charlotte Tilbury hype, but really think that Charlotte does magic with lip products. I have not tried Charlotte Tilbury lip products and I spied that Charlotte had a new collection of liquid lipsticks coming out. So, I wanted to try it out. So, with the help of IMBB sponsorship scheme, I finally got myself a Charlotte Tilbury lippie. Today, I am going to review the “Charlotte Tilbury Hollywood Lips Show Girl“. Read on to find out whether this is a buy or bye.

My Experience with Charlotte Tilbury Hollywood Lips Show Girl:

Charlotte launched a new collection a few months ago with new liquid lippies called “HOLLYWOOD LIPS”, and also a contour and new highlight wand. The entire collection has a glamorous theme with luxe packaging.

Packaging: The liquid lips comes in a beautiful dark plum cardboard box with the shade name at the bottom. The lipstick itself comes in a standard enough but Tilbury fancy gold tubes, with a transparent window that makes it easy to spot the shade. The applicator is a doe-foot applicator with a slant, and Charlotte herself says that what sets these liquid lipsticks apart from all others is the specially designed ‘Lip Hug’ applicator. This lip hugging applicator allegedly has a wide part to cover the lower lip, mimicking the natural shape, and the thinner part precisely defining the upper lip. The applicator is precise enough for filling and lining the lips properly and I really like how this works.

Shade: There are 10 shades in the new Charlotte Tilbury Hollywood Lips altogether ranging from a pale nude to a vampy red. The collection is predominantly a suite of warm nude and neutrals along with a cool pink and shimmery coral thrown in for good measure. As the name would suggest, all of the shades are Hollywood inspired (with names like ‘Best Actress’, ‘Screen Siren’ and ‘Rising Star’ to match). Charlotte even named a nude after herself and “Charlotte Darling” is her signature shade in the collection. ”SHOW GIRL“ is described as a deep berry shade, but I would call it a neutral dusty peachy pink shade with a bit of light brown undertone. It is a nice color, but I don’t think that it will work on deeper complexions. In my personal opinion, I would say that most of the shade in the range is not universally flattering and no shade calls out to me and they need to put in some more work with the colors they deliver.

Formula: Once again, Charlotte has fused skincare with makeup and the Hollywood Lips formulation is packed with lip boosting ingredients that will deliver full lips that look digitally enhanced. The formula is lovely. It is so creamy, thick and smooth and the special doe-foot applicator makes it very easy to apply. The formula gives the lips a flattering soft focus matte finish with full coverage. It applies well without tugging and pulling. It feels comfortable on the lips, no stickiness or tackiness and no strong scent. They have a soft matte finish and does not set completely to a powder matte finish on the lips. So, you will still get a little transfer. The pigmentation is awesome and it gives full on color in one swipe.

Hollywood Lips are meant to contain moisturising ingredients that offer lips comfort and keep them hydrated till removed. I can say that this isn’t that true and they don’t hydrate my lips. However, they tend to dry out my lips a bit after a hour or so anyway I would say that it didn’t dry me out completely. Proper exfoliation is a must with these or else, they seem to cling a little to dry patches.

Staying Power: In terms of lasting power, I found that these lasted pretty well for about five to six hours. They transfer easily with food and tend to fade even with lighter meals or a drink.

These are grand lip products but nothing really special. I will for sure happily continue to use these, but I wouldn’t repurchase any of them because, they are not that unique or spectacular and I very much doubt that I’ll be enticed to buy any more of the shades. Overall, it is an another overpriced, middle of the road Charlotte Tilbury product.
