My Experience with Bobbi Brown Bare Crushed Lip Color:

I like Bobbi Brown lip ranges, be it lip color, lip gloss or lip balm. So, when this new product was launched, I definitely had to give it a go. Since I have too many dark shades in my vanity, I decided to opt for a nude shade, which can be worn on regular basis.

I picked “Bare”, which is a soft peachy pink beige. It comes packaged in a sturdy, black coloured lipstick bullet with a bare coloured band in the centre. The colour-coded band makes it easy to choose the lip colour, if you happen to have more then one shade in your vanity. This sturdy lipstick bullet is then packed in a black coloured cardboard box. The lipstick bullet closes firmly and is definitely travel-friendly.

This nude shade is nicely pigmented. Three swipes give an opaque finish to my pigmented lips. One swipe gives an uneven wash of colour to my lips where intensity can be built by reapplication.

This shade does have a peculiar fragrance which is not pleasing to my senses. The texture is smooth and it applies smoothly and evenly without tugging or pulling. This shade can be worn without a lip liner.

Texture is semi-matte and it does not spread or smudge while applying. It contains vitamin E, C and beeswax, which imparts the benefits of a lip balm, but to me, it feels and looks like a normal lipstick with a semi matte texture. In fact, it tends to accentuate dry and patchy skin. It is advisable to apply this lip colour on exfoliated lips. It has crushed pigments, which intensify the lipstick colour.

It tends to transfer a bit however, since it’s a nude shade, it does not show much. It does not spread or smudge. Lasting power of this shade is three to four hours without ingesting. After ingesting tea, coffee or water, it tends to lighten and fade. It does not leave any colour stains or marks on my lips. Lips feel moisturised while the lipstick is on.

I am not using this lip colour regularly, due to the peculiar fragrance which is a bit uncomfortable. Secondly, the semi-matte texture of the lipstick tends to accentuate dry and patchy lips. Needs to be used on exfoliated lips.
